The University of Brighton’s Hastings Panthers face Portsmouth University on Wednesday, looking to make it four wins from their first four fixtures this season.
Following a 4-1 league victory over Roehampton in the first game of the season, attention has been shifted to the South Eastern Conference Plate, with the Panthers returning to league action next week.
Hastings comfortably saw off the University of Creative Art and Design 9-1 in the first round, before beating the University of East London 4-1 on penalties after a thrilling 4-4 draw in the Last 64.
Portsmouth are also unbeaten so far this term, sitting top of their league with four points from their opening two league fixtures.
A 4-0 victory over London South Bank University saw them through the first round, before a thumping 8-2 victory over campus rivals Portsmouth Mens 4th sent them through to the Last 32 clash with Hastings.
And both sides head into the fixture in fine goal-scoring form. The Panthers have netted 18 times in their opening three fixtures, whilst Portsmouth are one goal behind on 17 from their opening four.
Meanwhile the away side have a slight advantage defensively; conceding six from their opening four matches, keeping one clean sheet, whilst the Panthers are yet to keep a clean sheet after also conceding six from their three fixtures.
Hastings boss Tom Dullaway has added Angus Sutton to the squad, which is otherwise unchanged from the side who won against UEL, though Daniel King is set to miss the tie, and Sam Willett is still nursing a thigh problem.
Kick-off is at 13:30 on Wednesday 11th November, Bulverythe Recreation Ground.
