Nicholas Owen, former Royal Correspondant for the BBC and television journalist, came to the University of Brighton to open the brand new Media Newsrooms on Priory Square Campus. The grand opening was held in front of students and staff members of the University.
It was a chance for everyone to see and speak to a well-respected Broadcast Journalist which was quite a buzz amongst the students.
Having started 51 years ago, Nicholas Owen has had a long and incredibly successful career. From covering war stories to the coverage of Princess Diana’s death, Nicholas has been at the forefront of breaking news stories for many a generation.
Mr Owen generously gave up his time after the grand reveal to take part in a talk to budding journalists, giving them insights into his life and career.
During his talk he gave some important advice to the students, “I always say, if you don’t take an interest in what you are doing, how do you expect those who are consuming to take an interest?” Nicholas’s enthusiasm for his job shined through and students relished in his tales.
It is hoped that Nicholas will be back once more very soon to tell students more about his continuing career.
